After the Zimmerman trial, I have been asked by numerous friends, family and strangers who know me as an attorney who happens to be Christian about my thoughts. While responding to the inquiries, I silently pray the words of my mouth and meditations of my heart are acceptable in God's sight because I pray for peace, I challenge believers to embrace the God of Love and the fact that we have to accept the all of things in our walk, talk and practiced lifestyle. I didn't think the Zimmerman trial would go the way most had HOPED in light of the Prosecutor's initial charge and non-legal education of the lay jury. On the go forward, and as I told my students in my legal class after the Zimmerman trial, we are all made in the image of the all seeing, all-knowing, all-loving God, we were all created for a reason and purpose and must appreciate each person’s uniqueness to accomplish our life work in the All of things; good, bad and/or indifferent.
I hear side conversations, but do not silently applaud those change talkers who make radical, emotionally charged statements or have loud angry conversations with little or no regard for those who may overhear the vehemence of their words and nothing more. In response to the seeming hopelessness and/or anger, I take advantage of the moment to begin a conversation that change begins with each and every one of us willingly embracing being "the change we hope to see in this world." -Ghandi. Radical disruption only shifts the mood from bad to worse, but the radical change of a transformed and enlightened mind through the grace of God shifts the mood from hopelessness to hope in knowing that God can and will so long as we allow ourselves to be united as ONE.
I encourage you to be the change in the disruption and chaos by not talking about what needs to be done or what should have been done based on your life experiences and expectations, but living your life as a Change Walker. A Change Walker knows what needs to be done because they actively live within their community, hears the needs because they are part of the crowd and can identify the voice of the people and does what they must to walk in the light to attract others to the light by embracing their life purpose in the All of things.
